Standard 3: Faculty who teach English demonstrate excellent proficiency in English.

STANDARD 3

Tasks: Provide evidence of the establishment, implementation, and assessment of a system to ensure that faculty who teach English demonstrate excellent proficiency in English as required by this standard.

Re-testing of 10 faculty members has been scheduled for the week of July 22nd. One faculty is scheduled to be tested for the first time.

Process: ETS will provide Authorization Letters, a Candidate Roster, and an Irregularity Report before July 19th

Responsible Parties: The 11 faculty to be tested are listed below along with the date and time each candidate will be tested. Melvin Marcus (in bold) is testing for the first time.   Thomas S. Schwenke, Dean of Administrative Services; Caryn T. Davis, Dean of Academic Affairs; and Mark S. Schwenke, Faculty / IT Systems Coordinator will serve a test administrators/proctors.

Timeline:      7/12/2013: ETS has been contracted to prepare testing for 11 candidates.
                      7/19/2013: ETS emails required documentation.
                      7/22/2013 – 7/25/2013: 11 tests will be administered.

                      Tests results will be mailed approximately two weeks after the final test.

Documentation: Results are provided by ETS and will be available for review.

Assessment: Number of faculty increasing their TOEIC scores will be used to assess the efficacy of the TOEIC study materials, of the peer coaching and of support activities.  A review will be made of observed contributing factors to lower than expected TOEIC results.
