II.      CEA Standards:  Resources: Administrative and Fiscal Capacity and Facilities, Equipment, and Supplies

The following Standards must be addressed by the Program Planning, Development and Review Committee on Resources, Administrative and Fiscal Capacity and Facilities, Equipment, and Supplies .

Each Standard below is followed by a brief summary, illustration, and/or excerpt from CEA’s Discussion for that Standard and page references for further review in the CEA Standards document.

Administrative and Fiscal Capacity Standards 1-12, pp. 19-25.  These are pretty clear cut.  They apply to areas like providing job descriptions, adequate staffing, legal compliance, etc.  Please review on pp. 19-25 and inform the Prrogram Planning, Development and Review Coordinator of changes, if any, that might be required to meet CEA Standards.

CEA expects that all of its Standards work together.  So, for example, Student Services Standard 2 and Recruitment 2 require that the school or program demonstrate how it provides academic counseling to help international students understand the US system of education and academic behavior and college admissions advisement and assistance.

Facilities, Equipment, and Supplies, pp. 27-32.  Also pretty straight forward.

III.  Some Guiding Questions or Prompts for Committee Consideration

1.       In light of the CEA requirement for Student Services Standard 2 and Recruitment 2 that the school or program provide academic counseling to help international students understand the US system of education and academic behavior, is the Institute ongoing Orientation activities appropriately meeting these standards?

2.       Should the Institute consider other ways of assuring ongoing orientation in all areas?

3.       Should the Institute consider changes in its procedures and practices in these areas to assure it meets CEA Standards?
