The Professional English Academy offers advanced level professional and business English courses for non-native English speakers.

These Career-English courses are designed for professionals who are seeking to perfect and polish the English language skills they need at work. The program focuses on four areas of language competency: speaking, writing, pronunciation, and a thorough review of the grammatical structures of English. All courses meet during the evening from 6:15 to 8:15 pm, once a week from Monday through Thursday.

The Professional English Academy is ideal for professionals with limited time who feel they can benefit from improving their accuracy and efficiency in communicating in English.

Grammar for Professionals

For those professionals who would like to review advanced level English grammar so that they can feel more comfortable in both written and spoken communication in English. This course is designed to be taken for either 7 weeks or 14 weeks. Students can register for a 7-week session and if they choose to continue, they may register for another 7-week session which will cover all new material.

In this course, students will review advanced level grammar which will help them to improve their overall written and spoken accuracy in order to function more efficiently and feel more secure in a business environment.

Pronunciation for Professionals

For those professionals who feel that their pronunciation and/or intonation of American English interferes with their ability to communicate. This course is designed to be taken for either 7 weeks or 14 weeks. Students can register for a 7-week session and if they choose to continue, they may register for another 7-week session which will cover all new material.

In this course, students learn to identify their pronunciation difficulties and increase their accuracy in producing more native-like American English. This class will also focus on producing appropriate rhythms, intonation and stress in conversational English.

students learn to recognize the key elements and supporting details in

various examples of authentic spoken English such as movies, interviews,

live discussions, and television programs. They develop successful listening strategies and speaking skills. Problems with the grammar of spoken English, vocabulary, and pronunciation are reviewed as they come up.

Enrollment limited. Permission required. Students practice advanced

listening points, using authentic materials such as news broadcasts, films,

and documentaries. Pronunciation and presentation skills are emphasized.

Problems with grammar and vocabulary are addressed as they come up.
