Re: New TOEFL Book and Student CD-ROM
Date: June 12, 2007
The following summarizes the minor differences between the TOEFL 1st and 2nd edition textbooks and student CD-ROM.
TOEFL 2nd Edition Textbook
The 2nd and 1st editions are the same, except for:
q page number changes, starting with the Listening section and
q directions to students for answering questions.
For example, instead of telling students to pick the right answer, the text might now ask students to move the computer mouse to the right answer. However, the question number and content remains the same.
Recommendation: As you go along, note page numbers for 2nd edition activities next to the 1st edition page numbers in your book.
TOEFL Student CD-ROM
Please remind students that the CD-ROM that comes with their book is invaluable. It contains:
q additional Skills Practice sections closely coordinated with the textbook,
q 8 additional mini-tests, and
q 2 full practice iBT tests.
Teachers can also use the CD-ROM for homework assignments. Students can be asked to complete and print out assignments based on the Skills Practice or Mini-Test sections.
For other ways that teachers can use the Student CD-ROM, please review the textbook’s recommendations, “How to Get the Most Out of the CD-ROM” on p. xxi (1st ed.).
