Minutes – Topics Discussed

Accreditation Update: Preparation for ACICS visit continues. Visit is scheduled for Monday and Tuesday, March 5 & 6. CEA committees continue working on Self-study. Dates for visit have not been determined.

Revised Classroom Rosters: Columns to record and capture student progress on Vocabulary, Reading, Grammar and Listening are now included on the attendance/grade rosters for each class. This additional information will assist in identifying student learning outcomes, i.e. what the student knows or can do as a result of the course of instruction.

MyEnglishLab Workshop: Representatives from Pearson conducted a hands-on workshop where students could practice navigation on the application. During the workshop students

  • Viewed a presentation on an overview of the features on MyEnglishLab,
  • Facilitators from Pearson distributed the logon ids and passwords to teachers attending the workshop,
  • Facilitators walked participants through navigation techniques, explaining how to logon, identifying both the Teacher and Student views in MyLab, reviewing the purpose of the icons, as well as important terminology used in the application and
  • Participants were given time to practice the navigation techniques and demonstrate their understanding of the MyLab features by answering a series of exercises and having a group discussion on how MyLab will strengthen the course curriculum and better document student learning outcomes.

Faculty Satisfaction Survey was distributed before the meeting and collected after the meeting.  Results were tabulated

At 1:15 pm the meeting adjourned to a luncheon gathering at Tony of Naples on 43Street where informal discussions of the day's topics continued until dusk.
