Course Description:

A practical introduction to using the Internet.  The course emphasizes ways to find and use information on the World Wide Web.  Topics include understanding Internet concepts and techniques, using browser tools, assessing and evaluating information, finding and using information, and creating a Web page.

Requirements:

Classes will include some theory followed by extensive hands-on application.  Each student will create a portfolio of finished output, including a personal web page.

Evaluation:

The final grade will be based on the weekly average of grades for class participation, assignments, and examinations.

Textbook:

Don Mayo and Catherine Skintik, Learning the Internet:  Fundamentals, Projects, and Exercises, New York, DDC Publishing, 2000, or comparable text.
